You can store leftover Instant Pot mac and cheese in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Stir in cheese, and continue stirring until cheese has melted and is combined. Right after the pasta finishes cooking, make sure you add the heavy cream and shredded cheese to the pot. Once cooking has completed, allow for a 2 minute NPR (Natural Pressure Release). While the pasta cooks, shred the four cheeses. Set the Instant Pot to ‘Manual’ or ‘Pressure Cook’, ‘High Pressure’ for 2 minutes. To prevent overcooking, it’s important to rapidly release the pressure and promptly drain the pasta. Add the water, pasta, salt and butter to the Instant Pot and give everything a gentle stir. The pasta shouldn’t sit in the IP for an extended period of time. The proper ratio of liquid to pasta is important to achieve perfectly cooked macaroni with just the right bite.
